Schallplatten Record Store Hamburg Germany

Thanks to the magic of his patient old-school listening and a bit of technology, DGM’s engineer Alex Mundy has combined the original reel with a bootleg recording of Fripp’s appearance in the Schallplatten Record Store. Thus we get a slight variation in the audio quality as the different sources align but that’s a small price to pay to be able to hear Fripp’s soloing albeit briefly. The last six minutes are frighteningly good wherein Fripp ups the tension around one repeating morse-like note and the growl of swelling waves, over which we hear mournful swoops and the bee-like cross-picking buzz that presages The Zero Of The Signified. All in all a truly dramatic conclusion.

A murky recording of Fripp's encounter with the audience - wherein he declares an ambition to become the new James Last - is included for completeness.

Good journey
Two pieces, some 40 minutes of music. Excellent sound quality on track one, very good on track two. I prefer the track without the soloing, as the synchronisation with the bootleg reduces the overall quality in several places which makes for a somewhat 'uneven' listening experience. The solo parts come in with something of a jolt in several places and you can also hear the audience chat. Nevertheless, the solos are varied climbing to a dramatic ending. Track one covers a wide range of moods. A...

Heavenly Music Incorporeal
Music For Record Stores And Solo is one of the most beautiful, most astonishing performances of music I’ve ever heard. I’ve been listening to it for 4 or so years now and it still is an ecstatic experience to be hearing it. This whole session is amazing. It pains me sometimes to think I was not there for it. But since it transports me each time I listen, I know that’s only nostalgia for something that doesn’t really exist. It is always being what it is at the moment it is played. It ...

German
Pretty sure the german word "Schallplatten" translates into "Record Store" in English. I think the proper name of this venue should be "Govi Schallplatten" or "Govi Record Store". Fantastic job with the bootleg synchronization and wonderful to hear!
