Sadly no reels could be found for the two shows in Amsterdam on the 8th May at RAF Records in the afternoon and Boudisque in the evening. Nor is there any trace of the performance at The Club in Brussels on the 9th May. So the Frippertronics tour picks up here at the first of two shows at Le Trompe L’oiel in Paris. The first gig consists of two prime 30 minute plus slices of vintage Frippertronics. Fans of those rich chunky tones will find plenty to keep them happy. The second piece is particularly reminiscent of the sombre moods contained within No Pussyfooting’s The Heavenly Music Corporation.

Lovely, floating sound
These two Restaurant shows are, to me, very different from the other Frippertronics shows (many of which I also love). These are closer in feel to Eno’s early ambient works than to the Fripp/Eno collaborations or the extended ’frozen rope’ solos that are the highlights of other shows. These are beautiful and engaging ambient pieces, some of the best of the Frippertronics downloads.
