It’s the penultimate night of the tour and so you could forgive Crimson for being a little tired or lacklustre. Yet the performance had been by turns jaunty and gutsy. A particularly good improv albeit in several distinct fragements beginning as usual with Trey spraying the napalm about the place and ending up with a straight rock out that’s underpinned by Fripp’s low register growls, Gunn’s cyclical riffing and Belew wringing and strangling notes like there’s no tomorrow.

After a truly barnstorming version of Elephant Talk Adrian comes out for his rendition of Three Of A Perfect Pair but before he does he steps up to the microphone. “I don’t really know this” he says as the crowd fall quiet, “I don’t actually know this but I’ll try it anyway” and begins playing and singing the first verse of The Court Of The Crimson King.” The lyrics are subject to the vagaries of Belew’s memory but regardless, it’s a special moment not just in the setlist but the tour as a whole. When it comes to the chorus, the crowd take up the refrain with great enthusiasm. “You guys are beautiful!” Belew tells them. He’s not wrong.

A fantastically unique show
This show has a unique vibe to it. The band is totally on throughout the show. The track "Frame by Frame" listed here also includes a full run through "Elephant Talk" and an Adrian acoustic "The Court of the Crimson King." That last song is worth the price of this show alone. And of course the performance of ""Heroes"" is phenomenal as usual.

Man, the band plays good in Canada
For me personally, I find both this night and the next to be among the highlights of the tour. This show starts with a rousing Larks’ IV and doesn’t let up. The guys were probably happy that they were getting ready to have some time off and they pretty much nail these last two shows.
