“Thank you so much. Good evening,” says Belew on the last of three nights in this particular venue. It sounds like a good show as they run through the set although as Belew initially fluffs the intro to EleKtriK, he says (not so sotto voce) “Get it right.” The mid-set appearance of Vrooom seems to snag the Crims though they manfully soldier on through Dinosaur and finally hit their proper stride with The Power To Believe II, Dangerous Curves, and Larks’ Tongues Part IV and, in the early section, a rather brutal reading of Power To Believe III making the contrast with the angelic Thrush solo all the more telling.

However, looking at the gig overall, Fripp felt this wasn’t KC at their best. “Tonight, we were careless. I can handle honourable mistakes: you go for it & trip up in the attempt. But tonight, we played without care on too many occasions, and something was lost. . .Tonight we began, stumbled and fell. There was something off in the hall but, primarily, tonight was our responsibility. This is hard for me to accept. Actually, I don’t accept it. But I acknowledge our failure, with apologies.” This show was mixed from the multitrack ADATs by Alex Mundy.
