‘Getting off to a good start’, ‘hitting the ground running’ and any number of euphemistic phrases all refer to the importance of a concert’s beginning. On this occasion, with the air tuned by a powerful soundscape, irreverently referred to off-stage by band members as ‘asswind,’The Power To Believe I and Level Five provide ample opportunities to provide a pretty decent launchpad for something special. Some wrinkles notwithstanding, also part of the process, ProzaKc Blues stomps along with some authority while The ConstruKction Of Light winds and weaves a beguiling thread. All contribute to establishing the momentum that ultimately leads to an astounding Larks’ Tongues In Aspic Part IV wherein the fast running notes are breathtakingly off the charts.

Away from the big-ticket items like that it's interesting to hear the band comping as things go slightly awry when One Time briefly slips from the band’s grasp during the intro, effectively having to restart Adrian’s count-in while continuing to carry on playing. If he had serious reservations about the qualities of the band’s performance on the 17th, tonight’s show, while acknowledging some clams, is cautiously welcomed in Fripp’s dairy. “A much stronger performance this evening.” This show was mixed from the multitrack ADATs by Alex Mundy.
