The energy levels are way up high in this last night prior to Crimso’s transfer to The Broadway Theatre.[endtease] Though Funky Jam is spread a bit thinly tonight, the up-tempo beat is in keeping the Prix D’Ami’s hot-to-trot reputation as a disco.

The club had been packed to the rafters with journalists from all over South America, guests-personalities, rock stars, actors, politicians and the paying public who snapped up the tickets two hours after going on sale. The crowd are really the co-stars here and as the gig progresses the intensity of this fiery performance mounts accordingly. Never mind heavy metal - this is more like an exploding junkyard of sound hurtling violently in your direction.

Fripp and Belew lock horns during a truly furious rendition of The Talking Drum and you’ve got to love the chanting crowd at the end of LTIA. A stonking instrumental version of People is priceless with Sleepless and a reprised Red rounding off a grand Prix indeed!

Getting a second look, this is definitely the show I saw and was indeed the last night at the Prix D’ Ami.  Dates are off though.  Check out the poster in the vision section.  Crimso played the Prix D’ Ami on Sept 30, and Oct 1 and 2.  Great show!!

Last show at the Prix?
Funny.  Notes say this is the last show at the Prix D’ Ami prior to transfer to the Broadway.  But I saw Crimso at the Prix D’ Ami on Octubre 2, 1994, 22 horas.  Have the ticket stub in front of me.  Entrada Numero 351.  Fantastic night...

Firing up the engines in Argentina
What the setlist doesn’t show is that "One Time" through "Elephant Talk" is played without pause, as if one big medley -- very effective. The mix is typically strong on separation, drums and vocals, making it easy to appreciate Pat’s work. Trey Gunn is not so easy to discern, but he finds ways of adding interesting harmonies and textures. This is a band finding itself, and doing a good job of it: The rarely-performed "Discipline" and "Fashionable" (titled "Funky Jam" here) were soon replaced ...
