From one of the early sessions in Wessex, Giles Giles and Fripp assembled in the large room and laid down the bare bones of Cadence And Cascade. Sounding rather earthbound at this stage, this method of ‘scaffolding’ was part and parcel of the way Crimson would approach studio recording up until Discipline. The placeholding electric guitar would of course later be removed entirely and replaced some choice acoustic playing, along with Keith Tippett’s fluid piano, Mel Collins’ gorgeous flute.

This track is available as part of Mr Stormy's next bumper collection. His sixth year of treasures from the murky, cavernous DGM archives, is now available for download.

Sang along karaoke style, laid melodica solo over the outro, thoroughly beautiful moment in my day thanks to this. Please put this on the next Stormy FLAC Selection if you can, and thanks for the tickle. There is no more gorgeous song than this made in our lifetimes.
