From one of the early sessions in Wessex, Giles Giles and Fripp assembled in the large room and laid down the bare bones of Cadence And Cascade. Sounding rather earthbound at this stage, this method of ‘scaffolding’ was part and parcel of the way Crimson would approach studio recording up until Discipline. The placeholding electric guitar would of course later be removed entirely and replaced some choice acoustic playing, along with Keith Tippett’s fluid piano, Mel Collins’ gorgeous flute.
