That’s the title of a new album due out from Japanese band, Acid
Mothers Temple. Formed in 1996, and operating as a large
collective, Acid Mothers
Temple & the
Melting Paraiso U.F.O.(to give them their full title) have made a habit
of dropping various musical references and titles into their psychedelic
blender.
Their plaudit-gaining recording
of Terry Riley’s In C was also accompanied by complementary tracks such as In D
and In E.
Matt Verba, who sent in this particular news item goes on to say, “This isn’t the first time they've made reference to KC in. Two older songs are entitled "41st Century Splendid Man" and "No More Red Nightmare," and the cover of their album "Electric Heavyland" pays homage to the "Earthbound" cover.”
This album also features one of the best titles I've heard in a long time - "Atomic Rotary Grinding God / Quicksilver Machine Head" - which somehow mangles a mixture of asociations that include Vince Crane, John Cipollina , Deep Purple and Hawkwind all in one go.
Any other such sightings are always welcome. Matt, step forward for The Golden Anorak Award!
