Our latest DGMLive giveaway picks up on the current
discussions on the guestbook concerning classical composers and KC. Mark Graham reminds us that “one classical
composer who acknowledges King Crimson as an influence is Andrew Keeling. In
addition to his own compositions he has orchestrated some of Robert Fripp’s
Soundscapes which have been performed, broadcast and recorded by The Metropole
Orchestra of Amsterdam with plans
for a CD release.
But my own personal
favourite is the recording by Mr McFall’s Chamber of "Peace - a String
Quartet", which is Andrew Keeling’s arrangement of Robert Fripp’s ’lost’
string quartet.”
This particular version can be found on Andrew Keeling’s
Musical Guide To King Crimson Volume Two: In The Wake Of Poseidon and thanks to Mark at Spaceward
Graphics, we have a copy of this fabbo CDRom to giveaway. As if that wasn’t enough, we also have a copy
of Andrew’s first CD release, Quickening The Dead to add to the fun.
To win these two items all you have to do is
send an email to competitions@dgmlive.com
telling me the year Andrew was invited to arrange new versions of King Crimson’s
music.
If you don’t know the answer you
can find it by having a rummage in the “About Andrew Keeling” section of his
Myspace site. Please remember to include your postal address as well. The lucky winner of these two splendid prizes will be announced on Monday 14th May.
