PITCH CORRECTED PIER

This time last week we pulled the big shiny lever on a truly cracking KC at The Pier in 1982. A couple of comments came in suggesting that the pitch for this gig was not correct and these were brought to Alex’s attention.  Here’s what Mr. Stormy had to say on the matter.

“The re-pitching of these shows is not a precise art. I try to get them as correct as it sounds to these ears at the time.

With 80s Crim, the chorusing on the guitars is quite large, so that makes it more difficult to tune. I take a track say like Elephant Talk, where an A is constant and pitch to that. I then check other tracks on the tape taking into account that the tape may be stretched in places.

I've had another listen to this, and it is slightly out, nearly half a semi tone, so like half a fret if you like. But I can push it up a bit.”

And that’s exactly what Alex did yesterday. The show has been reset at its new near-as-dammit pitchand all those who’ve purchased the gig have been notified and will be able to grab a new copy gratis.
