SOMETHING NEW AND SOMETHING OLD FROM BRUFORD & BORSTLAP

The London Jazz Festival will feature Bill Bruford and pianist Michiel Borstlap on November 24th. As previously mentioned here, the dazzling duo (and that’s something of an understatement folks) have a new album out called In Two Minds which is now available for pre-order over at Bill’s shop.

If this is half as good as their previous outings then it will be essential addition to the part of your record collection you have lovingly labelled B.

Bill will also be doing a workshop the next day, November 25th at 11.00 where you can hear Bill explain the drumming for some of his best loved tracks and wonder how he looks so hideously bright and cheerful at such an ungodly hour of the day!

Even if you’re not a drummer these workshops are well worth attending just to get a close-up view of that heat-seeking snare in action. Gig details can be found here and workshop details are here.

And so to our giveaway...

If you’d like a copy of the Bruford – Borstlap dvd, In Concert In Holland (complete with bonus audio disc) then all you have to do is send an email to competitions@dgmlive.com with Bruford Giveaway in the header (otherwise you’ll disappear into spam hell) and don't forget your postal address in the message.

The winner will be announced on Sunday 11th November so don’t delay. You can read my take on this dvd over on the blog and their recent appearance at The Sage in Gateshead where some of the new In Two Minds album was recorded earlier this year.
