Given the weight and gravity of much of its music, King Crimson has a capacity to catch that which is ethereal and ineffable, moments in their sound that open outward into vast unknowable space. Such subjectivity by its very nature is of course entirely personal to the listener and will necessarily be different across the individuals gathered to listen or, indeed, gathered there to play. Yet those ambiguous qualities are there to be savoured in places such as the diaphanous folds of various sections of The Power To Believe. Stopping the ticking clock of intrusive everyday ‘stuff’ is something that happens in other numbers here. Dangerous Curves, and the mountainous regions that the band encounters during the ascent of LTIA IV similarly arrive with their own time and space, creating their own environment and weather; as these notes appear, something else, something greater, seems possible. And if all of these observations can be filed under ‘cosmic horseshite,’ well you can always just enjoy it as KC straps on and rocks out, to not quite quote one of the guitarists in the group. This show was mixed from the multitrack ADATs by Alex Mundy.
