"One of the main reasons we subject you so often to our presence is so we can try out is so we can try out new train wrecks on you, I mean new material" Belew wise-cracks prior to the start of EleKtriK. Whilst there's a few wobbly moments in the picking on the ascending section in the middle, you'd have to be especially hard-hearted not to forgive Belew and Fripp a few finger-led indiscretions on what is otherwise a delightful light-touch version of the piece.

Interesting to hear a chugging guitar figure at the beginning of Virtuous Circle (later to become TPTB Pt II) and some gorgeous harmonics and sensuous embellishments from Gunn as the piece develops. Beautiful shifting strings from Fripp and prominent percussives make this version rather special.

Level Five is a rollercoaster ride that rattles and shakes alarmingly but which somehow gets to the other side with all Crims just about present and correct and LTIA pulverises the hell out of the place. Fan and ET eye-witness correspondent Dave Gaither observed at the time “I am one of those folks who had my doubts about a bruford/levin -less King Crimson. At the show in San Francisco last Wednesday I was made to realize how wrong I was. The show was great. Pat played very well and his skills are not clouded by being in the shadows of Bill Bruford. They played a good selection of songs and as I hoped they played "Red" , one of my favorites. I am now a reformed fan and will try and see this line up (or any other) with a more of an open mind.”
