WASHINGTON 29th ROYAL PACKAGE

The mystery guest was Tony Levin at the second Royal Package in Washington.

Tony told us fascinating tales about his specialist subject...bass guitars. These ranged from the history of the bass he is currently playing with Crimson (with the 3 of a Perfect Pair artwork), to the fire in his barn in 1996 where he lost many of his favourite instruments. The artwork of Thrakattak showed some of the charred remains immortalised as art in the snow. He returned one of them to the maker (a charred instrument with a melted and bent metal neck), suggesting that they replace it as the neck was damaged! In a similar spirit, they replied very officially saying that they felt it was out of warranty...and set him another one!
