72 Show identified.

Previously released in the Sailors’ Tales boxed set as Unidentified 1972 Show No. 1. taken from the sound engineer's cassette tape.

We are now able to add to the online archive as Santa Monica, March 19, 1972,  thanks to Jade Delben who recognised it from a bootleg.

Now the most complete, and best sounding, version of the show is available thanks to Alex Mundy's work combining the official board recording and the audience bootleg.

And it's a good one. Here's an excerpt from Sid Smith's show notes :-

“.... just when you think you’ve probably got all the versions of 21st Century Schizoid Man you’re likely to need, along comes another to prove you wrong. This is an utterly unhinged rendition in which the group gives it their all, defying any assertion that this is a group simply going through the motions as they serve out their time to the end of the tour, some 12 days later.”

And today also happens to be the 53rd anniversary of the release of Earthbound, the original album from this tour.

Be sure to check out the rest of the tour here:  The Earthbound Tour

And that just leaves Unidentified 1972 Show No.2 still without a home. If any boxed set owners out there have got any clues as to its identity, we would love to hear from you.
