Keyboard player Tim Hinkley got in touch with DGMLive to add his tribute to Boz Burrell to those of Mel and Ian.  Tim first played with Boz back in the sixties and of course joined forces with Boz, Mel and Ian on Peter Sinfield’s classic album, Still. 

“I spent a lot of my life growing up with Boz from the heady days of the 1960´s when he was absolutely blowing everyone away with his jazz singing to the great stomping bass lines he played after taking up bass (by the way, I don’t think Fripp taught Boz anything about playing bass or for that matter music, that he didn`t already know) in the 1970´s.

Some of the more obscure tracks featuring Boz are probably findable somewhere on the net. Check out his great vocal rendition of ¨"Part Time Love" on the Steve York, "Cameo Paradis'- Manor Live" album.

Boz and I also recorded together at Rudy Van Gelder´s studio in New York for producer Creed Taylor along with drummer Ian Wallace that was released as the Esther Phillips album, "Black Eyed Blues".

One little known Boz vocal is his title soundtrack performance of "Carry On Screaming", yes one of those movies!

Boz was very demanding of himself and was rarely satisfied with any of his musical performances especially the most commercially successful ones, i.e.

the King Crimson and Bad Company bands. Boz lived life to the full and was determined to go out with a song on his lips and a axe in his hands.....this he most certainly achieved. As Boz would say "Later, Man!”
