My thanks to Randy for sending in this link to a list of the 25 Best British Guitarists. In his post Randy says "Yet another (useless) list. I say useless, but it’s always interesting that Robert keeps turning
up on these things despite the fact that most people don’t know who he
is. Interestingly enough, I learned about Robert in a list of this sort
(in the ’Guitar Handbook’). It actually took some time for me to get
around to checking him out, but I never forgot it.
This is one
of the reasons I like telling people that King Crimson is the most
influential band you’ve never heard. Since most of the people I run
into have never heard of Robert or King Crimson, but are familiar with
the artists they later influenced"
