My thanks to Jonathan Lyne who got in touch to say that King Crimson were featured on the Gideon Coe show on BBC6 Music. It's up on iPlayer and the Crimso segment occurs at around two hours and fifteen minutes into the show. It's listed on the site, and indeed presented as coming from 1970 but of course we know Crimso were off the road that year.
So what we have is Crimso in 1973 performing Book of Saturday, Easy Money, Exiles and Lament.
As for Germany, well I remember as a nipper back in the day that Radio 1 broadcast a half hour show of KC which came from Amsterdam. A quick AB comparison between the BBC6 Music segment reveals that the tracks featured here do indeed hail from the famed Concertgebouw gig from 23rd November 1973.
Interesting to hear the way the BBC have edited Exiles down and of course there's a slightly different mix. I can't remember it being like that back in the day but I dare say memory is playing tricks after all these years.
So, when the BBC say King Crimson in concert in 1970 in Germany it is in fact King Crimson in concert in 1973 Amsterdam.
