Crimso’s scorcher at Shepherds Bush in July 1996 will be the next in the Collectable King Crimson series.
The two disc set will be available from mid-April and if you already own the download then you don’t need to buy this one.
Thus sayeth the blurb:
"King Crimson’s two-night stint at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire is revered among fans for good reason. Coming at the end of a six-week European tour, the band was in stunning form.
Rolling Stone had described this line-up’s sound as akin to “well-wrought sonic violence”, noting that the band could keep pace with any of the 90s young noisemakers. As anyone who saw these gigs can attest – they could outpace most of the then current ‘young noisemakers’ also.
The concert presented here is the complete show from the second night. It encompasses everything that’s associated with Crimson with a few special one-off items unique to the show.
This was the only show on the tour to open with a solo Soundscapes performance by Robert Fripp. It was also the final European concert ever given by the double trio line-up. But the biggest surprise of the night was, undoubtedly, the inclusion of “21st Century Schizoid Man” in the setlist – performed live for the first time in London since 1973.
Drawn directly from the band’s stereo tapes of the concert, the 2CD set captures all the power of this legendary Crimson line-up in one of its best gigs."
