It would be difficult to write about today without making mention of the England – Greece football match. And in particular power of the self belief of one man – David Beckham. This was a poor England performance, in which they strived to undo all the good work of recent months. And yet Beckham would not accept defeat. By the end of the match he seemed omnipresent – wherever went the ball, so went he. And in the 93rd minute of the match, 3 minutes into injury time, he scored with a free kick to take England through to the World Cup Finals. Truly inspirational. An example of one man taking destiny by the scruff of the neck and refusing to let go.

Today at the Vicarage: The Vicarage

And yet all his conviction would be worthless without the hard work and dedication to attain the highest level of skill. A lesson to us all.
