“That’s what I say every morning when I do my hair,” says Belew after Happy With What You Have To Be Happy With, adding “This can’t possibly be Sunday. It feels like Friday!!!”

There’s definitely a loose-limbed, up-for-a-good-time vibe across the show but how about that thoroughly ornery Level Five earlier? Sounding like Satan’s anvil being hammered in the red-hot halls of Hades, it’s an amazing performance.

Elsewhere in this show, we get another chance to hear that special version of One Time running into The Power To Believe Part II and back into the reprise of One Time but, but but. . .

Isn’t it always the way? The band is cooking, the energy is all there and the performance feels like it’s going somewhere else altogether, and then. . . the machine recording the whole shooting match decides to conk out.

Tragically that’s what happens a little short of six minutes into an absolutely scorching Larks’ Tongues In Aspic Pt IV, missing out on the final reprise of the theme and disposing of the coda in its entirety.

Still, it’s not like there aren’t other versions from other nights available but nevertheless frustrating if you were there on the night and were hoping to reacquaint yourself with the Crims and LTIA IV in full flow. But when the rest of the show is such an absolute cracker as this, what’s a little unexpected silence between pals, eh?
