The curse of Vrooom strikes again as Robert’s correct patch for the track goes awol until just before the first fairy fingers section. The curse also alights momentarily upon Trey who includes a note that definitely wasn’t included in the operating instructions during that first pass. This is just a minor wobble though in what is an astonishingly good show that contains one of the best renditions of TCOL you’re likely to hear. And the hits keep coming one after the other with a strong workout through Frying Pan, an especially savage FraKctured and an ebullient Oyster Soup with a blistering solo from Belew.

The first improv opens up into a mid-pace groove against which Belew paints with bright, luminous streaks which Fripp follows with some searing laser-beam lines that ultimately endings in shimmering gongs and cymbals, swooping angelic voices and barbed bristling notes. This is made all the more impressive by the jump into an impressively belligerent LTIA IV. Sadly the opening of the following improv is missing and so we launch directly into the stomping Virtuous Circle-style improv filled with glittering electronica, percussives and doom-laden sorties from Fripp’s fretboard. Having suffered from an under-par performance on their previous show, the Crims more than make up for it with this full-blooded, take-no-prisoners show.
