Blitz Tokyo Japan
Fripp’s soaring angularity on the opening Heavy ConstruKction is a thing of wonder; a familiar sound but constantly veering off into the unknown. He passes on that baton to Gunn who takes a moment or two to orientate himself before hurtling into a a hair-raising sequence of furious twists and turns on the fretboard. It’s times like this when you realise just how strong a team these two players were. Supportive and complementary they also push and nudge each other along. Live Groove continues that propulsive partnership with some sustained and dazzling player from the Dorset born branch of the ProjeKct franchise.

X_chayn_jiZ has a playful quality tonight that provides room for some fleet-fingered runs throughout though it’s Gunn’s howling lines that spread across the beats and stretch out the most. Pausing for breath in Sector Drift that once again includes Ade’s automated drum solo, the team go Searching For Low Life In Sector Q3 with some moody atmospheres established right from the off. Gunn’s dreamy notes ice Fripp’s yearning strings with poignant details dripping with emotion. Trey’s soloing here is so fluent and lyrical that this track alone makes this a download that is definitely worth owning. Fripp’s retort from faraway spacelanes confirms this fact lest there was any doubt. Buyer beware there’s a little bit of onboard distortion during an otherwise peerless Thrush.
