Nothing particularly revelatory on these 10 takes, the structure was pretty set and didn't change much. The basic tracks are exclusively Giles, Giles and Fripp- only take 7, the one that made it to the album, has overdubs from Mel and Greg. And it has an interesting mix here, with hard-panned vocals and Mellotron. Only two takes made it all the way to the end, take 4 (which has a scratchy, slightly atonal guitar solo during the quiet section) and the aforementioned Take 7. Near the end of the session the boys let off steam with a short jazz-rock improv, and someone can be overheard saying “I think King Crimson is a bit like the Moody Blues”. Tongue in cheek, I suspect.
