King Crimson’s three-drummer lineup provided not only a musical punch of considerable heft but provided a striking visual element to a show that, apart from one lighting change, remained intentionally static. During One More Red Nightmare, a number which was never performed outside the studio by the Red-era band, while Pat and Gavin would duel out increasingly robust interjections during the percussive break-out sections, Bill would intentionally provide an almost comedically simple ‘oh, come on, guys’ counterweight as the drumming fusillades moved back and forth. Elsewhere in this song, the excitement of the occasion catches Jakko out as he struggles to grapple with the tumbling words in the final verse. In a moment of sublime irony, the band is offered some career advice from a member of the audience who suggests they “play fucking louder” just as they go into The Letters.
