Newlyn St Peters Church
The second of two benefit concerts for the Shallal Dance Theatre and the end of a run of UK concerts during 2010. To describe this music as ambient in the accepted use of the word is to imply a certain passivity. However, even when sections are relatively static there’s so much detail and interaction going on that the phrase becomes reductive and redundant. Of the run of shows in this bundle, if you only plump for one, then this will probably tick all the boxes.

Theo notes “Intimate but strong gig. I remember how a helpful soul, perhaps with some learning difficulties, came up to Robert asking him about King Crimson and telling him how you could get good King Crimson bootlegs in the market in town. Ouch! Robert gave me a subtle but wicked smile and stayed quiet. Blue Calm from this performance is the one on the DVD video section on Follow.  The opening Pastorale and Duet for the End of Time’ are the ones that appear on Discretion.
