Theo Travis and Robert Fripp are to play a concert in Coventry Cathedral later this year. The concert will take place as part of the Coventry Jazz Festival on Saturday May 23rd. There are no further details such as times etc yet but we'll keep you posted.
With the original cathedral destroyed during WW2, the venue has a long association with new music, perhaps most importantly Sir Benjamin Britten's evocative War Requiem for the cathedral's reconsecration in 1962.
With their album, Thread, having wowed critics both in the rock and jazz worlds, this will be the first time the duo have taken their intriguing blend of electro-acoustic onto the live stage.
If you don't have the album you can hear a couple of tracks over at Robert's official myspace page. You can also read John Kelman's review over on All About Jazz, the BBC's music reviews page and my own take on the album over on the blog.
