"Adrian Belew and Martha Wainwright guested on SBS TV
"quiz" show Rockwiz on Saturday the 9th September. Warmly received,
he launched into Elephant talk and played 2 very tasty solos, the first one was
the rhythm part for Robert’s solo, drenched in surf guitar reverb, the second
was a classic Adrian tappy finger/bendy/whammy thingy, very noice! I for one,
learned his real first name is actually Robert.
One of the questions was,
"what side does Bowie wear his eye patch on Ziggy Stardust", then the
host asked if Adrian had ever seen David’s "patch", he replied that
he hadn’t but that he had seen Bowie in his underwear and that "the man
has no ass to speak of"!
He was also asked, "out of Zappa, Bowie,
Byrne and Fripp, who was the weirdest?" He diplomatically answered
"being on this show"...On display on set many LPs, including
"Remain in Light" and ITCOTCK.
They ended the night with Adrian and Martha duetting on "Heroes" Adrian playing Robert’s lines, or Robert playing Robert! Good fun appeared to be had by all, nice moment when Martha called Julia (the host ),a "wanker" in French!"
