The original antiques quiz programme, Going For A Song, is to be revived next year hosted by Toyah Willcox and her husband, Robert Fripp. The couple’s love of antiques is well known and has been well-documented here in Robert’s online diary.
The original BBC quiz show began in 1965 and was hosted by Max Robertson, and made an unlikely star and household name out of Arthur Negus.

A pilot is being filmed later this year as hinted at in Robert’s diary of 13th March - “currently my antennae are indicating that there are major creative shifts underway, and the forms & re-alignments these generate will become clearer in the next 12-18 months. i have cleared my own calendar at the end of the year to allow more room to respond as & when these arisings present themselves.”
Regular RF diary visitors will also recognise programme consultant and occasional guest expert, Mr. Romain.

The series will be filmed early next year and transmitted on ITV at the beginning of April 2010.

The make-over is being made by RDF Television (the company behind the popular antique show, Dickinson’s Real Deal) and unlike the original BBC series, the 2010 version of Going For A Song will not be studio bound but will feature the couple in different auction houses and shops.
