More On The Mystery KC Track

John Wetton has been able to confirm the mystery track mentioned on Robert’s dairy as being King Crimson.

“It sounds more "Starless" period, and there are burgeoning ideas from that era, plus a vocal/bass idea which surfaced in UK (Caesar's Palace Blues). The linear Fratt / Crisp solo passage is unmistakable, as are the bass/drums/vocal. The song structure is wedged firmly between Starless and Red.”

Frustratingly, the DGM archive contains only a partial ¼” master for this gig on 19th March 1974 at Udine, Italy and thus the mystery track remains out in the cold.

Currently Alex is looking at how the rites of necromancy could be applied to it and we’ll let you know as soon as possible about making it available.

There’s a somewhat rambling account of this track and its discovery over on my Postcards From The Yellow Room blog.
