A Kickstarter campaign has been launched to secure funding for a new Keith Tippett album.
Discus Music, an indie label based in the UK, is hoping to release Tippett’s recent composition for octet, The Nine Dances Of Patrick O’Gonogan.
One of the very best players and composers of his generation on British jazz scene, Tippett will be known to King Crimson fans for his work on In The Wake Of Poseidon, Lizard and Islands.
He was also the animating force by Centipede, a large scale jazz and rock orchestra. Produced by Robert Fripp, their 1971 album, Septober Energy, featured KC alumni including Ian McDonald and Boz, and players such as Mark Charig, Nick Evans and Harry Miller, who variously appeared on Lizard and Islands.

Meanwhile, Keith Tippett’s latest solo album, Live In Piacenza, recorded in 2012, is now available from Dark Companion Records. Check it out here and you can also get my take on it over on the blog.
