Hugh of the DGM art department is an excited chap. Why might this be?
"A copy of 30th Anniversary Expanded Edition of the Damned's
first album plopped onto the mat today (along with some other stuff) impressive
in an archive sense, 3CDs and a good booklet, and containing just about every
note the original lineup ever recorded, from demos to a bootleg of their first
ever concert supporting the Pistols at the 100 Club (July 6, 1976).
And despite being hailed as "the first British punk album" it rubs shoulders nicely with the likes of the Stooges, MC5, Motorhead and sounds great to these ears."
It's common knowledge that The Damned's bass player, Captain Sensible, has worn his love of progressive rock very visibly on his sleeve. Check out his myspace site and take a look at his top ten albums. You'll also see King Crimson listed in his influences. All of which gives us an excuse to put up this pic of the Captain and a certain pre-Rabbit boppin' Bobby.
