Q: You often say that Music creates the musician, that Music plays the musician. If this is so, then does Music create the audience?
RF: Yes. Music creates the audience by listening to itself through an audient’s ears. Similarly, as with a musician so full of themself that leaves no room for Music to enter, so with an audient who “knows what they like” and has a right to hear it, especially when they’ve handed over their hard-earned pay. There is no available open space between the ears to hear Music speaking to itself.
