Today is Mel Collins’ birthday. It’s almost easier to say who this exceptional player hasn’t worked with than reel off the hundred of bands who have been graced by his superb sax and flute playing over the last 37 years.
Let’s celebrate his birthday by listing our favourite Mel Collins moment and saying why we like it. It doesn’t have to be with Crimson so that gives you plenty of scope. In recent times Mel has been recording sax for the new Crimson Jazz Trio album with his old band mate, Ian Wallace.
