King Crimson’s drummer from 1972-1997 is 76 today.
Bill Bruford has played on a host of classic albums including Larks’ Tongues in Aspic, Red and Discipline, and has also been a DGM artist with his own band Earthworks, and projects with Ralph Towner and Tony Levin.

After putting away his drum sticks and retiring from musical performance in 2009, Bill has now returned to the fray, and since 2022 has occupied the drum seat in the Pete Roth Trio. This new beginning was described by Bill as “explosive, unexpected, and very sudden. I remember passing someone else’s kit one day, sitting down, and feeling exhilarated all over: urgently and violently keen to start all over again. I’d sold all my own drums, years earlier, so I had to go and find a new set and start a daily two-hour practice routine”.
You can find out how all the practice is paying off on upcoming tour dates in the UK, Japan and Italy. Pete Roth Trio tour
