Frippsonics in a devotional setting – better than hymns!

"Robert Fripp’s career has been one of fascinating single-mindedness, ranging from his stern management of King Crimson to an ability to bear fruit in collaborative situations.

Amazingly, the term ‘Frippertronics’ has yet to enter the English dictionary, although Fripp has been experimenting and composing with his guitar fed through a wide range of toys and gadgets since his early work with Brian Eno.

Today, Fripp has a vast panorama of sonic textures and continents at his disposal which are showcased in various soundscapes performances and recordings.  These latest recordings come from performances in churches such as St. Paul’s Cathedral and Holy Spirit Church in Tallinn.  The results are compelling and panegyric, with the actual acoustics of these unique venues being Fripp’s most unique and elastic collaborator. Although there are 10 tracks, what they are called, where they are recorded and how long the are is unimportant. Taken together they constitute one of the finest expressions of spontaneous composition, improvisation and compelling music to have drifted though these ears for a long time. Fans of Eno and Fripp’s famed summit meetings will lap this up, as will listeners of ambient music, Phillip Glass, Keith Tippett and Klause Schulze."
