My thanks to Mcurran for pointing me in the direction of the following information. "In the brand new edition of Mojo (September issue), on the Mojo
playlist page, are 3 charts. Mojo's top 10, Readers top 10 and a guest
'rock celeb' top 5 list. In this issue it's the turn of Wayne Coyne,
lead singer/writer of The Flaming Lips. At number 1 he has '21st
Century Schizoid Man' by King Crimson."
The same magazine features in interview with David Sylvian who when asked if Robert Fripp asked Sylvian to join King Crimson around the time of the First Day collaborations, had this to say.
"He's always denied it, but yeah, I think Robert was just testing the waters. We'd worked on Gone To Earth...together, we got on very well and I remember Robert saying that he'd like to work with me again. I can't quite remember the circumstances but I think I just got a call out of the blue asking me whether I was ready to do something.
Obviously I was incredibly flattered that he asked but I think he was wrong to ask me, because I didn't think I was the appropriate candidate for the job. Also on a personal level I couldn't take on the weight of that particular baggage which wasn't mine. I'd rather start something completely fresh than buy into that. And he was OK with that."
