Mel Collins and Jakko Jakszyk make their debut live performance in Mestre, near Venice next month.  The duo will be appearing as part of a two day programme of music and discussion themed around progressive rock.

Their set will include several tracks from Crimson’s back catalogue as well as new material from Jakko’s solo album, The Bruised Romantic Glee Club.  Promoted by Musica Continua, the Collins & Jakszyk gig will take place on November 24th.

On November 25th there’ll be contributions from respected Italian musician and broadcaster, Arturo Stalteri (best known for his work with Italian proggers  Pierrot Lunaire and his national radio show on RAI) and yours truly.

I’ll be talking about Crimson and the work of DGMLive which happens to be celebrating its first birthday at the time. Full details have yet to be finalised but we’ll keep you posted as soon as we get them.

No direct Crimson content but author Jonathan Coe takes a look back at the Canterbury Music scene in the pages of The Guardian.

When it comes to singling out the essential Canterbury sound albums he cites Pip Pyle’s solo record Seven Year Itch as being up there with the likes of Soft Machine Two and Hatfield’s The Rotters’ Club.

Seven Year Itch includes contributions from a stellar cast including none other than Jakko Jaksyzk.  Wow – see how that all linked up?
