The hype (deserved and otherwise) about Crimso penetrated the offices of Atlantic Records resulting in label president Ertegun to fly to London in order to personally secure a deal with KC managers Enthoven and Gaydon. This ensured that the band would have something to promote during their then forthcoming two-month tour of America.
The founder of Atlantic Records Ahmet Ertegun has died. Whilst best known for signing many luminaries in the jazz, blues and rock worlds, Ertegun also signed King Crimson to Atlantic in 1969.
