A Gong For Theo

Paul Welsh tells me that sax player Theo Travis will be tooting his flute with a special line-up of Gong next month. The gig is part of the Meltdown festival curated by Massive Attack and will feature Theo and none other than Steve Hillage and Miquette Giruady - the first time that the System 7 duo have shared a stage with Gong since the relief of Mafeking. Head over to cheif-Yoni and space whisperer Gilli Smyth’s site for some day-glo news of the event.
In addition to playing with David Sylvian, Theo is of course known for his invigourating work with Soft Machine Legacy, Cipher (who are out on tour at the moment accompanying the Lon Chaney silent classic, Phantom of the Opera) and of course his collaboration with Robert Fripp on his recently released Double Talk album and the forthcoming duo with Fripp, Thread
