Bill Bruford has a new book on the way in 2018. Uncharted is published by the University of Michigan Press and follows on from his PhD thesis exploring and analysing the creative processes of drumming through his own experience and that of a number of other leading players.
Bill says…
“The book explores the creativity involved in the way drummers make things work, make things matter, and make sense of both. I draw on my own experience and the perceptions of nine top players with the aim of contributing to the wider discourse on creativity in collaborative music performance. ‘Uncharted’ is less chatty, less opinionated, infinitely better informed, more provocative and, perhaps, more demanding than my 2009 autobiography; but my intention is that you enjoy it!”
