Congratulations to ex-Crim, Adrian Belew on the success of Piper, which won an Oscar for Best animated short. You can read and listen to Adrian talking about his work on the movie here.
Needless to say Adrian was understandably proud and pleased that the movie had won...
However, the best account of what winning the Oscar was like for Ade perhaps comes from bassist Julie Slick who is at Studio Belew rehearsing for the Power Trio's impending tour. Last night she posted the following note on her Facebook page.
so we ate dinner at the mexican restaurant again tonight... adrian was much too anxious to watch the oscars. we even stayed late, had another round... when we got back to casa belew i looked online to see if they'd declared a winner.
"adrian, you should probably turn on the TV... i think they are about to announce it..."
"oh gosh julie, i'm way to nervous... i just don't know..." he held out a shaking hand.

(the TV clicks on)
"and the oscar for best animated short goes to..."
what a surreal moment.
Adrian and the power trio start their extensive US tour tomorrow.
