In the shower: another insight on the double-tetrad that came to life in 1983 at The Music System presentation in Gaston Hall, Georgetown University; itself further brought to life by Elan Sicroff’s comment while driving me to the Boston Airport on
Saturday, 10th July 2010 from the Camp Caravan course...
A conversation with Elan en route to the airport, covering various arising topics of the week. One interesting comment by Elan, in reference to a Genius Musician of his acquaintance, who has no interest in the inner life. This clicked a minute or two after Elan had dropped me off & driven away.
The click: during the talk / presentation yesterday evening, I referred to a public-talk-with-Frippertronics – The Music System – given at Gaston Hall, Georgetown University, in 1983. Unaware that this was a Christian college, while standing onstage & gesticulating the form of the tetrad by waving the right hand in such a way as to describe an equilateral cross on the wall behind the stage: suddenly the tetrad lit up, and moved from one tetrad to two, with the second tetrad right in front of the first. In the intervening 31 years I have returned to this regularly, without quite discerning its meaning. Elan’s comment and click! After 31 years the Point Of Seeing, the Noticing That Leant Over And Spoke Loudly To My Eyes, continued speaking. And today, I heard what it was saying.
This morning’s insight was to do with roles & positions in social / public life that correspond to qualities of presence, decision-making & intentionality; that is, correspondences between the psychostatic & psychokinetic worlds.

Noisebusters, Bach & Haydn. TV news on two televisions is a not a supportive element for me at this time of day, so the volume was discreetly diminished to barely audible on the primary blaster of the two tvs.
Returning to the room c. 09.05, looking down…
In addition to the view of the Capitol building, the view also includes industrial-scale air-conditioning plant on several buildings, albeit a good way below. This would explain the ongoing whirring in the night.

Lunch with old pals at 11.30.
12.42 Lunch with Lew & Sue Orchard, pals from Sherborne House V (1975-76). We haven’t all three been together for maybe 32 years, although Lew came to a LCG performance at Long Beach in 1989. The conversation was as if continuing from an hour ago, widely ranging over moments that are present within our 35 year history.
We discussed subjects that, usually, end up with the label strange being attached to the person speaking. Like, of dreams informing conduct & thinking over a period of decades, and which lead to current decision-making. One of Lew’s contributions to our strange conversing was the notion of Confident Ignorance. This brought me to life, in distinction to deathly postings on the DGM Guestbook, such as recently from dstanton Stealing the moment:: Posted by dstanton on
November 24, 2010 Today, I was engaging with people who engage with life. The question is, to hold a better question. This is itself a good part of the answer to the question. Picking away at seeming contradictions without embracing the contradiction, without getting the hands dirty & engaging fully with it in life, little discussion is possible. Today, my life was richer.
