Hotel Acceptable, Westbury, CT.

09.29

Final breakfasting, reading, computing and e-flurrying at the breakfasting trough of this particular Hotel Acceptable.

There is an opportunity in exceptional degrees of tiredness: letting go of mundane responses and concerns. There is little energy to fuel them. But an energy becomes available as a result of directed effort, to support a continuing focus on the work at hand; accompanied with the tiredness. When focus is lost, it’s very easy to fall off the edge of the narrow ledge between the two. All in all, a good opportunity to know our limitations; how to move beyond our limitations; and how to deal with the point beyond that.

10.19  From an e-correspondent…

The Albany Performance...Three thumbs up for taking the goon’s camera, his same group was chastised the piece or two prior. I was directly behind the group. I do have to say, that the company of the theater really did not push people to their seats from the lobby, I did not see a clock, and the lights dimmed in the lobby briefly but that theater was cramped getting in, I felt bad for you as soon as I walked in....but acoustics were nice.  How lucky you are to find such players! You ought to play on the concourse outside the theater!!!

The League Of Crafty Guitarists does have precedents for playing in unlikely places.

Departure at 11.00.

15.23  Somerville Theatre, Boston.

Punctual departure in the Beef Wagon. Finger of Beefy points the way…

A two-hourish drive to the near-approach of Somerville I…

Stopping at the backstage loading zone...

16.23  Arriving in good time, around the corner to visit one of my favourite bookshops, although on this visit I carried nothing away with me. A coffee and back to the theatre.

Dressing Room of the Star…

… which is actually a changing area for theatre productions, at the end of a corridor and next to the bathroom.

Corridor of The LCG…

… with two good dressing rooms in front of Leonardo.

The LCG Soundcheck with Marcello doing the work of (at least) two men…

19.10  A good Soundscuplture underway, with new parameters. Showtime: 20.00.

01.34  Motel Exceptionally Modest, Somewhere Or Other, MA.

The performance: a cellphone camera-shot hit me while I was vulnerable, relaxing into a trusting-ness of the audience. Trust, once broken, is hard to re-establish. Trust, broken on nearly every occasion, is hard to establish. Has my performance life been spoiled? Yes, regularly, repeatedly. Has my performance life been curtailed and reduced because of this? Of course. Does this matter to the photographers? How can I know?

In the audience: exceptional jazz vocaliste La Commandere; and exceptional pianist Elan Sicroff, accompanying pals from the Camp Caravan community.

Supper and on the road in the Beef Wagon.

Tomorrow is Driving Day El Cripplo of Terror, Horror And Despair: almost nine-hundred miles to Lake Geneva. The aim tonight is to get as far along the way as possible. When weariness and lassitude began to embrace Mr. Beefy, he pulled the Beef Wagon into a mall area off the highway. The desirable modest-accommodation was completely full, and the less-desirable modest- accommodation had lotsa rooms. So, this is the one for us and  here we are, arriving c. 01.15.

Rising time: 06.00. Departure as soon afterwards as is feasible. Night view…
