Bredonborough Waking from a nightmare

12.14

Bredonborough.

Waking from a nightmare, well, not quite a nightmare, of present-day performing in Japan with the KC 1981 line-up. There were problems, as is usually the case with KC dreams: I was not onstage while the other Crims were on, playing TOAPP. And I couldn’t remember my part in any case.

To the balcony of Blower’s with the Weekend FT I…

Flower baskets have been delivered by the town council & are now hanging from buildings in town, a welcome sight.

Shopping on the High Street, with two chance conversations of the local kind.

Your pal & mine, dear old Mr. Stormy, is our today-assistant Road Dog to Trev.

Once again the same conversation, as at just about every venue, with the lighting person. The conversation comes down to this: I really do understand your concerns with lighting, but it would really be so much better if I shine light directly in your eyes. This translates as: I may and/or may not understand your concerns with lighting, but I have no inclination or intention to do anything that privileges your interests above mine. You’re only the performer: and I work here.

Onstage punctually at 21.00 to a good house; alternatively rendered, a good tent. Tents are very different performance spaces to churches. Most enjoyable subjectively, although who knows? Probably, no lives were changed radically & forever, as is the case with some performances. But, for a life that did not shift trajectory to a closer embrace with its destiny, hopefully a good place to continue living for an hour and ten minutes.

Leaving c. 22.50  & arriving home c. 00.05. The Minx & WillyFred were standing at the open back door, both waiting to be kissed.

A wonderful returning-home moment.
