Butcherly accents of the landlordly kind came through the wall at 08.48.
10.55 David knocked up on the door with good news. A kitchen discussion followed…
… with David emphasisng his Shower Moment…
In the shower this morning, David realised that EMI has forgotten to include an additional, and agreed, sum of money in the Settlement Document. A simple human error, we are both sure, and without any evil intent on the behalf of EMI’s Second Tier Lawyer who managed to take no interest in our concerns for almost a year, until instructed to do so by A Voice From Above.
A kitchen discussion followed, on the Human Condition & the denying power inherent within functionality & operational matters that seemingly thwart the vaunting life of the Spirit. There comes a point when we see the world is mad. What to do? Can we be the only sane person in the asylum? And, were this to be so, what then?

12.03 A morning of stuff. Off to lunch with a local pal.
19.27 My lunch pal works with a firm of financial advisers & has a daughter, who specialises in derivatives, who is working with a leading London law firm. Astonishing stories of redundancies, partners in leading firms of commercial lawyers being early-retired, and an informed view of the current state of affairs as the repercussions from financial madness continue to unfold in the mainstream of people’s lives. I commented, as I have before, that this is the world I have known for over 40 years. Yes, dear innocent, reasonable visitors to this Diary - the values of the music industry have moved from the back lanes & dark alleys of artist exploitation to the bright lights of the high street.
A post-lunch visit to Wilton & Romain’s Emporium Of Things You Might Like To Buy If You Weren’t Having A New Roof Put On By Cheese Construction Undertakings And If You Had Been Paid What You Were Owed By All The Music Corporations That Owe You Money And Had Room For These Wonders & Delights Anyway And If There Wasn’t A Financial Catastrophe Unfolding Remorselessly & Inevitably.
Mr .Romain…
… indicates a rare item, a plate rack, that is waiting to sell itself…
… and an exceptional early C19th. clock that has already found itself a new owner…
Mr. Romain informed me that Pauline, Lady Rumbold, died in December. T & I-self had lunch with Lady Rumbold at the Leggs in Dorchester, before Lady R moved to Wilton. She was also a visitor to Romain’s Emporium of Wonders & Delight. Stephen Tennant, friend of Cecil Beaton, was her Uncle.
Returning to DGM HQ & continuing to pack boxes for collection by Hernan & Martin next week…
More boxes of Endless Grief files, including this (IMO) Document Of Deceit…
This is the Assignment of Copyright for Schizoid Man to EG, dated 22nd. February 1976 (while I was at Sherborne House, Gloucestershire) – so EG could collect my royalties! And Mr. Alder, Good Guy That You Can Trust, Chartered Accountant, Treasurer of Nordoff-Robbins for several years, adviser to the Palace & many other good works, looked me in the eyes while telling me this.
What’s that at the bottom?...
Sam G. Alder signs on behalf of EG Music Ltd., the beneficiary of Mr. Alder’s advice as business manager to the Assignor; and the signatures of two witnesses who weren’t at the meeting they are witnessing.
Guitar Craft files that are going to the archive in Kiel…
… and loony files…
… that are not.
Another arising of the later afternoon – early evening: David has taken the Solar Voyager to a higher degree of functionality in preparation for Jakko Jaksyck’s visit tomorrow.
A kitchen conversation followed with David addressing the current state of our dispute with Sanctuary UMG; the amount of disruption this has caused to our creative & professional lives; and the negative impact on DGM’s operating.
David left for home just before 19.00…
21.25 E-flurrying & computerising.
Butcher Fry has just called to set the world to rights, with more stories of the late & much missed Les Collins of The Marsh, head gardener at Reddish House during our time there.
