DGM HQ.
A significant beginning this morning: The Crimson ProjeKct has begun and is now underway. The Vicar came in & made a contribution to the Rhythm Buddies of New Formation's groove tracks, recorded ten days ago at Studio Belew, and I also made a contribution. Mel Collins has also agreed to contribute.
Part of this is to clear the physical stuff that has accumulated since moving to this location from 100 yards down the road in 1999, sorting the debris & detritus of the last generation DGM. For example, David is claiming his office as his own, moving out the stuff placed their by the former occupant. This is now David's space. It looks clean, clear, organised, tidy. Actually, nothing like any space I have ever seen David occupy.
A local engineer, of our past professional acquaintance, visited this morning to discuss his possible involvement in DGM archive & future productions. The aim is to free David's hands so his brain may cover more creative areas, and allow his hands to focus on future-endeavours. We also have an interested engineer in Nashville, who lives near Ade, and who might like to be involved in archive preparation. Preparation, that is, for downloads on the new DGM website. When? Soft-launch at the end of this month.
The Afternoon Shift is both forward & backward looking: listening to live & studio material for the second box of The 21st. Century Guide.
18.42 The Vicar has added a small but pointed melody to the Crim ProjeKct groove. The groove is in E flat minor, the Vicar's melody in F minor. And David has gone home for dinner, possibly as a result. There is not an American bone in The Vicar's body.
20.25 The Late Shift is underway & we are listening to live performances by the Double Trio.
20.31 The Boys Crim are burning through Thela on Broadway. Re-visiting Crim several years after the event is instructive. Often, one's views at the time are radically revised.
21.41 Crimson were hot on Broadway.
21.56 Now KC live in Tokyo, April 2003.
23.10 David has left for home.
