Alison Goldfrapp whistles me back to the diary. Donbledore has now safely returned to terrorize any shaggy haired Seattlites who have thus far escaped his clutches.

My heart is still lightened by the excellent "Bremner, Bird and Fortune" last note - my vote for the best current TV programme. I read that channel 4 is in trouble as recent BARB figures suggest it is losing its core 16 – 35 year old audience. Perhaps this is because it is gaining my jaded attention. Its programming is nothing if not adventurous - interspersing such programmes with others with such titles as "Designer Vaginas". It is fascinating how arresting the word "Vagina" remains. Amongst all the varied, brash billboards that accompany any trip on the tube, my eye is invariably drawn to the "Vagina Monologues".

"Oompa Radar" has just kicked in on my hifi station. Like much of this album sounds, it sounds as though it belongs on a latterday mellotron – with the exception of the fact that its tuning is not as adventurous.
