“Robert just said I’m suppurating,” says an amused Adrian Belew ahead of his solo spot playing Three Of A Perfect Pair. “Does anybody know what that means? I’ll give you ten bucks if you know what that means. Suppurating...well whatever it is that’s what I’m doing right now.”

The gig, which Belew had earlier noted was attended by some members of the audience attired in fancy dress costumes, coincided with Halloween, which might account for both the fun and infernal elements which manifest during what amounts to a pretty spiffy gig. The transition from Vrooom to Thela takes place at a lightning pace and the old warhorse from Discipline is taken at a hell of a gallop.

After a playful Dinosaur, featuring Belew momentarily off-stride and a soaring middle instrumental section from Fripp, the levity is dialed down a little for a brimstone-tinged LTIA IV. A piledriving rendition and featuring one of Belew’s best solos within the beast to date.

The second improv covers quite a lot of ground before finally staking a claim in a particular groove, enabling Belew and Fripp to trade a series of escalating blows. Overall, the sound of King Crimson having fun and playing to the crowd.
