On a recent foray into the DGM vaults Alex ‘Stormy’ Mundy discovered a box bearing the enigmatic legend, MATRIX STUDIOS 13th FEB 1982. Containing two short but perfectly formed examples of Frippertronics on his Roland setup, they were recorded just seven days before King Crimson’s February US tour which kicked off on February 20th in Columbus, Ohio at the Matrix recording and rehearsal facilities in New York. There's no indication as to the purpose of the session; trying out a new configuration or an updated entrance anthem for the Crims perhaps? Whatever the reasons behind strapping on and plugging in, it's nice to hear these pieces see the light of day 35 years after they were recorded.

These belong right next to the other outtakes from the Failed album. A little of this and a bit of that. 5 stars because the songs were done on my birthday and then 11 days later K.C. plays my home town of Akron once again. Wonderful news, this night.
